Please note that the booking policies are subject to change. When you book a trip, we will send you a booking form, up-to-date, and you should read it thoroughly before signing it and returning it. You will be identified by the booking form you sign, as it replaces the information on this web site or in our catalogue of courses printed. We will not consider you to confirm a booking until we receive both your deposit and your booking form signed and dated. BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA is committed to create a route of travel, to provide a trip leader for guided expeditions and organize all travel and accommodation services. BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA reserves the right to substitute other willing service providers and to modify the itinerary when deemed necessary or convenient. Agreement of passage used by the airline will be the exclusive contract participant in international travel.

COST OF YOUR TRIP

The trip price includes all transfers, accommodation, tour materials, services of a guide who will accompany you all the time during your trip, tickets to the parks and reserves mentioned in the itinerary, as well as the meals listed the final itinerary. The price represents a complete package; the breakdown of individual costs is not available. Flights are not included between your home and the beginning and end of the tour destinations. Domestic flights required by the route almost always are included in the price of the trip; however, there are some exceptions where it is most cost-effective to combine them with your international ticket purchase. All flights included or excluded from the price of the trip will be indicated in the final route. Travel expenses such as taxes of output, passports, visas, immunizations, insurance, medical expenses, evacuation, optional excursions, breakfast, beverages, laundry, excess baggage, tips, telephone calls and expenses of purely personal or arising from the delay are not included, nor included the extension of a trip due to causes beyond our control.  If you have questions about the inclusion of a tip for any item of cost, please do not hesitate to contact us.

RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENTS

To register on a BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA tour and get your booking, is required a deposit of 30% of the total price of the journey, as well as the signing of the booking form which contains the assumption of risk and release section.

BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA reserves the right to refuse reservations for any reason, in our sole discretion. A reservation is only accepted from the date BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA has confirmed its acceptance in writing and issued a confirmation invoice and payment schedule for the tour. Only at this point establishes the contract between the participant and BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA. If we do not receive payments according to the schedule of payment described in the booking form, BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA reserves the right treat these as cancelled bookings and charging cancellation fees as indicated on the booking form. If the cancellation is made more than 90 days before the date of departure, allowed the reprogramming of a trip within the first year. If not, there is no refund available.

The balance 30 days before the date of departure should be canceled. Payments for bookings made less than 60 days before the date of departure should be in full at the time of booking. Unfortunately, not make deposits or payments on time can result in cancellation of your reservation and fees apply for cancellation.

INCREASE OF PRICE OF TRAVEL

Due to a variety of possible circumstances beyond our control, the total cost of the trip is subject to change, but this is only as a last resort. Participants will be notified if any change in the cost of the trip are incurred. BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA does everything possible to anticipate the increased costs of service in each area that operates, but when unexpected increases occur, we reserve the right to increase our price by 8% of the price of the trip. If further increases are needed, participants may be removed from the tour without penalty cancellation.

If you want to avoid the cost of a single room (single supplement), try to find a roommate for you, but keep in mind that this is not always possible and that if we cannot find a roommate right for you, you will be required to pay the single supplement. Please note that accommodation preferences will be respected in the best possible way, but they are not guaranteed. In some remote locations (for example, field stations), this is not always possible, and it is necessary to accommodate the arrangements for sharing. When there is an unexpected exchange (especially in remote areas where communication is difficult), lack of availability at a hotel or accommodation in particular generally is not known in advance and only see the arrival. In these circumstances, your leader guide will do everything to adjust the preferences of the group.

CHANGE OF ROUTE OR LEADER

BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA reserves the right to make changes to the tour if it is necessary due to unforeseen circumstances. If the leader / the travel guide determines that it is better to deviate from the activities described in the programme of the trip, he / she will make reasonable efforts to replace an activity of interest and satisfaction comparable to the participants of the trip. If it needs any significant changes before the start of any tour will be informed participants. If imposed us a change of route or mode of operation for any reason, such as strikes of an airline, natural disasters or political discontent, additional costs, anyone who is, are the responsibility of the participants.

Finally, BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA reserves the right to assign or replace any of its leaders in any tour.

SIZE OF THE GROUP

Maximum size of appropriate group to enjoy a tour will largely depend on the location and type of Habitat visited. Set departure tours, the maximum number of participants for the tour is 10. When there are eleven or more participants, will provide a second leader. In the routes that pass time mainly in forest environments, the maximum size of the group is usually eight to ten participating, with a leader. Custom trips can be organized on request with a list of participant to leader in accordance with the wishes of the customers.

AUTHORITY OF THE LEADER / GUIDE OF THE TRIP

Please, inform the leader / guide of the trip on any problem or dissatisfaction, he / she usually can remedy the situation. If necessary a change of schedule, he / she normally consults with participants of the trip. However, on issues related to security and the proper ride of the trip, the leader’s decision is final. BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA is not responsible for a participant who fails to comply with laws or regulations of any place visited, are considered prejudicial to the safety or well-being of others on the journey, or whose behavior impedes the functioning of the travel or the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other participants of the trip. Can be requested that person to leave the trip and BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA will not be responsible for any additional expenses incurred by an excluded person participate in one trip, including, among others, land costs and air fares.

DOCUMENTATION

Requires a passport valid for six months after the date of departure for all trips. It is the responsibility of the traveler to determine the requirements for your visa for all destinations.

THE IMMUNIZATIONS

We assume that you will be up-to-date on shots. Vaccination certificates are not required to enter Colombia, but it is important to have the following information:

Colombia recommends travellers who visit areas for under 2200 metres above the level of the Sea (especially forest areas and some parks) applied the vaccine against yellow fever at least 10 days before travel. The vaccine is not suitable for people with HIV-positive, pregnant women and children under 6 months. To go to jungle regions or natural parks are recommended in addition other vaccines, such as tetanus and hepatitis A and B. It is recommended that foreigners coming from countries which have the vaccine against dengue it prior to travel if they are going to visit sites below the 1,800 meters above sea level. Malaria can be found in many low-lying areas of Colombia. Although it is not known near any of our reserves, it is present in some cities of the Eastern, Central and Western Andes; and in Santa Marta, Magdalena, Guajira and Chocó. In these areas it is appropriate to reduce the amount of insect bites using shirts and pants long sleeve and repellent, especially at dawn and sundown, try to minimize mosquito bites and take into account the symptoms. The disease of Leischman caused by the sand fly bites is also a remote possibility in the lowlands and, once again, visitors should be aware of the symptoms. Rarely has reported in the Magdalena valley communities, although not within the reserves. Cover your legs / pants, shoes and waist with insect repellent.

MEDICAL CARE

All health care applicants with medical problems that may interfere with or limit participation in the tour, or communicable diseases, should let us know. BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA declares that will not be a doctor on any trip in particular, and we do not assume any responsibility with respect to the provision of health care. If a participant is injured or becomes ill, BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA or leader / travel guide can, at their cost, arranged the medical evacuation or other emergency services.

RESTRICTIONS AND PARTICIPATION

Our tours do not normally involve strenuous activity, but if this cannot be avoided, it will be clear on the details of the tour. However, participants must be able to moderate walks of several miles a day, sometimes in uneven or slippery, surfaces to participate fully in the activities of the tour. To meet the needs of all levels of birders, our tours sometimes involve long days in the field and traveling long distances.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TRAVELLER

The responsibilities of the participants of the trip includes: select a journey suited to their interests and abilities; determine which destinations and particular activities are appropriate for them; determine that they have enough health and fitness to undertake the journey and particular activities on the road; buy passports, visas and immunizations needed; ensure adequate insurance coverage; bring clothes and appropriate equipment; passing through customs. Participants are responsible for the fate of the personal belongings that choose to bring on the trip. The main focus of our departure trips is bird watching or watching wildlife with a secondary focus on other aspects of the natural history, culture and / or photography. Unless stated otherwise in the itinerary of the trip, they must not interfere with the main focus of the trip.

CANCELLATION BY THE TRAVELER

We require written notice of the cancellation, which is effective once we receive it. If you need to cancel your reservation, you must inform us immediately by e-mail and we will confirm your cancellation. Based on the date in which we recognize your notice of cancellation, charges apply for cancellations per person. This policy and the fee schedule also apply to extensions pre and post trip, as well as any transfer of a trip extension to another. For cancellations received within 89 days and 31 days before the first day of the tour, the cancellation fee will be your non-refundable deposit.

For cancellations received 30 days or less prior to the first day of the tour, the cancellation fee will be the total cost of the tour. Please note that bank charges can be deducted refund you receive. Under no circumstances, BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA can waive or reduce the rates, so is very recommendable that you buy a cancellation insurance/ trip interruption.

CANCELLATION by BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA

Always try to take a tour, even if few people have signed up, and sometimes with loss. Some tours are designated as «guaranteed departures», which means that they will never be cancelled due to insufficient reserves. Cancellations of trips made by BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA are a matter of last resort, when BIRDING PEACE COLOMBIA should cancel the trip, you will recover all of the money deposited.

TRAVEL GUIDELINES

Be sure to have a health insurance travel insurance and keep the details of your policy separated from their valuables, however Birding Peace Colombia, will have for you medical assistance insurance in case of an emergency.

DIFFICULTY PHYSICS

Usually travels are moderate, however it is recommended to have good conditions for walking routes in the reserves, sometimes rain can make the trails are muddy, so rubber boots are needed. This trip should be very careful (be sure to have enough water and minimum equipment during travels.

BAGGAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Please keep your luggage as light as possible to travel and move.

We strongly recommend that you carry your money, passport, binoculars, camera, medications and any irreplaceable or valuable items.

Hard suitcases are not recommended.

Bags with soft folding wheels with handles are the best.

Empty your card wallet and everything but the most essential material.

Lots of Zip-lock plastic bags to keep dry cameras, binoculars, etc.

Carry a plastic bag with you (i.e., a thick garbage bag) into his bag with valuables; dry clothes in plastic bags in the interior is also recommended.

MIGRATION

Visas granted to immigration upon arrival for 30, 60 or 90 days (if you need more than 30 days, be sure to insist upon this on arrival). PRECAUTIONS

TIMELY INFORMATION

Gather all the possible information about your destination and take the time to understand their customs, norms and traditions. Avoid behaviors that may offend the local population. Ask for the legislation not to commit any act considered criminal in the country visited.   • Law 1453 2011. Article 32. Unlawful handling of exotic species. Likewise, compliance with the applicable regulations is promoted to counter the sexual exploitation of children.
  • The law 1336 of 2009, which adds and strengthens the law 679 of 2001, to combat the exploitation, pornography and sexual tourism with children and adolescents.
  • Act 679 of 2001, which is issued a law to prevent and counter exploitation, pornography and sexual tourism with minors, in development of article 44 of the Constitution.
  • Law 599 of 2000. Penal Code, title IV «crimes against freedom, integrity and sexual training”.
